Bryn continues to impress us with her reading prowess. Last week, she read a website she'd never seen before; the headline on Paul's laptop said "Find the right home for you," and Bryn, looking over his shoulder, read "The right home for you."

Then today, as Kathy and Grandma arrived to pick up the kids at school, we learned of yet another reading feat. Bryn and Maya had asked to bring in a book from home because their class is doing a unit on insects, and the book, entitled Bugs by the Please Touch Museum, was relevant to that theme. Little did we suspect that it would be Bryn, not the teacher, who would be reading this 28-page book at circle time!

Within the past year or so, we've read the kids a couple of books featuring magic wands. Thus, when Maya heard that her friend Hanalei was going to give out magic wands as party favors on her birthday, she was very excited--so much so that she talked about it for days ahead of time. Unfortunately, the much-anticipated day was a bit of a let-down.

Maya eagerly opened the party-favor bag, pulled out the magic wand, waved it at Kathy once, and again, and then declared with dismay:
"It's broken!"
Hmm, we wonder what Kathy would have looked like had the magic wand actually worked...
